Hardline

Up

All the Hard-line is underground to allow mowing of the field, and keep me from tripping over lines I forget about,  The following images show the trench the cables and lines were laid into before being covered. This was done with a ditch-witch at the cost of $140. Well worth the money after I tried to dig them by hand. The clay soil here is like rock and would have taken me weeks. It was done in less then 45 minutes with the ditch-witch. Some of the images below show incomplete work but I'm getting there. But you get the idea what I'm doing..

The Tropo tower (tower #1) has the following.

4  lines of LDF-6-50 Hardline 1 1/4" Hardline
2 lines of LDF4-50 Hardline  1/2" Hardline
2 lines of Belden 9913
3 runs of 8-wire rotor cable.

The EME Tower, (tower#2),

1 run of LDF7-50 for transmit  1-5/8" Hardline
1 run of LDF4-50 for receive,   1/2" Hardline
2 runs 8 wire of rotor cable for rotor control and other control lines..

Base of Tower #1. You can see most of the lines have connectors on them. The rest I need to locate the correct connectors. The Hardline has been cut and prepped, just waiting for connectors to arrive. Each line is marked with a special color code at each end of the length. This way I know what cable is going to what antenna and such. Sure saved a lot of headache.

Another view or the base of tower #1. You can see the grounding buss the Hardline and other tower points will be grounded to that feed to the single point ground at the shack entrance., Again, waiting on more "parts" to complete the final stuff.

Base of the EME tower after a 82 foot run under ground.

This is the entrance point and the single point ground point. Ok so the entrance is 6 feet to the left. Still more work for here. The surge protectors shown here as well as the others being used for the others lines will be mounted as bulkhead connectors to a metal bar then grounded 2 feet below (see below) to another Andrews grounding Buss.

Path to the EME tower before the lines were laid. The ditch leading off to the right 20 feet down leads to the Tropo tower.
