Moved to EM23, Mount Vernon, Tx  Mid July of 2005 and rebuilding the station. Have 4.7 acres of land now to have an antenna farm.  No more Downtown Dallas noise and interference. Just country air and noise.  Most this gear was killed in a lightning strike on 8/25/2005. So with hope that State Farm will come through with enough I can rebuild.. I'm still working on the EME & Tropo Antennas so maybe I'll have new gear when I'm done.

State Farm Paid off !!. New rig is a Kenwood TS-2000X. I gain a new band with 1296, but loose the 220mhz I had with the FT-736R. This will solved with a Transverter as soon as I can.

.

One of my past times when not working, is firing up the Ham radio and talking to various people who care to listen.  I don't do much if any chasing DX stations on HF. I'd rather sit and talk then have a 2 minute conversation. I spend most of my time VHF/UHF working week signal contacts. If I'm not there you can find me on 75 meters at 3.922 mhz and occasionally on 40 meters. I've stated back at working for awards from the 3905 Century Club Net on 75 and 40 meters. But primarily on 75 meters. .

I started into Ham radio back 1978 and obtained the call KA9JLU. I had various rigs back then. I was really interested in the old tube radios. Over time I have had in my possession several Johnson transmitters such as the Ranger, Valiant, Ranger II, A Knight T-150, Several Hallicrafter rigs including an HT-32B with matching SX-101A. And the list goes on. To many to remember.  The one radio I did own and worked the most was a Yaesu FT-101EX. Out of all the radio's this one rig stayed with me the longest and was used the most. By today's standards it wasn't anything great. But in it's time is was one of the most stable and respected radios. Having solid state receive and Tube finals gave the radio lots of nice options and was able to work just about anywhere you wanted. It was a solid piece of equipment. Even today the FT-101 series radio is being used by thousands of Hams on the air now. It had one of the best AM signals there was.

In 1985 I moved from Wisconsin and back to Dallas Texas. While here I upgraded to General and changed my  call to a 5 area call I have now, N5ITO and is the current call I operate under now.  Several years after moving back to Dallas I was married and moved into an apartment. So much for Ham radio. All radio equipment was sold and Ham radio was out of my life for a while. Through the years I picked up several 2 meter FM rigs and stayed active that way. But never had the space of radio for HF.  This has all changed. Check out my current and past stations on the site. Drop me a line or look for me on VHF. Love to have a schedule if you have time.

And radio keeps the world such a small place.
